Recently, I was offered the opportunity to review the One Year Bible for Women. I jumped at the chance to receive a free copy and give my honest opinion.Â
Reading the Bible in one year has been a meaningful part of my Christian walk over the years. When I started getting serious about my faith in college, I picked up a Bible that divided the reading into 365 readings.
Having a Bible set up that was ready with my reading for the day was a huge help for me as I managed my studies, job, and other obligations as a young adult. I was able to read the whole Bible in a year, and it really blessed me in so many ways. I’ll share some of those later.
I have seen different One Year Bibles over the years, and was happy to find that there was a beautiful One Year Bible for Women available. There are some features that I’ll highlight below.
Let’s start by taking a look at why the One Year Bible for Women could be a great choice for you or someone you love!

Features of The One Year Bible for Women
I don’t stick exclusively to one Bible translation. I grew up reading the King James Version, used the New American Standard Bible at Christian school, read my first Bible in a Year plan from a New International Version Bible, and journal in an English Standard Version Bible today.
Lately, though, I have been encountering the New Living Translation more often, and I have really been enjoying it. The translation endeavors to speak in an accurate and easy-to-understand language; I think it does a wonderful job at this.
The One Year Bible for Women is in the New Living Translation. This makes it a good choice for someone who is new to the faith, as well as mature Christians who want to read God’s Word in everyday language.
The font size is fairly typical of softcover Bibles. I need reading glasses for most Bibles, and this is no exception. This edition offers a short daily devotion that complements the day’s reading.

It has flourishes and accents on some of the pages to add simple beauty to the reading.

The cover is so pretty! It looks beautiful on a bookshelf, a quiet time basket, or on your nightstand.

Whether you are considering it for a gift for someone or looking to purchase it for yourself, it could be a great choice for you. It can also be a nice couple’s gift, paired with the One Year Bible for Men.

So why should you consider choosing a One Year Bible?
Why I Love the One Year Bible Format
The One Year Bible has been a favorite in our family for a while. My husband loves to read through the One Year Bible, and has done so many times. Here are just a few of the older One Year Bibles next to the One Year Bible for Women.

The beauty of reading the Bible in one year means that you get the context of the whole Bible! Each day contains reading from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. It can take 15 to 20 minutes a day to read the passages.
You can see how the sacrifices in the Old Testament reflected what Jesus did for us on the cross in the New Testament. You can understand the Psalms in a richer way as you reflect on King David’s life.
Context is important. Everyone has their favorite Bible verses, and that’s great. But it doesn’t tell the whole story of the Bible.
If you’ve never tried reading the Bible in one year, now is a great time to try it! Even if it isn’t January 1st, you can start on whatever day of the year it is.
It’s helpful to decide what you will do if you miss days. Some people double up on readings until they catch up. Others decide to jump in on the reading of the day and go from there.
I’ve also seen someone just keep going through a One Year Bible at their own pace, not worried about staying on a certain day. This might mean that the Bible readings take over one year, but that’s OK, too.
It’s about getting more of the Word of God into your life, and allowing God to teach you what He wants to teach you through it.
The convenience and structure of the One Year Bible can be very helpful. Use it as a tool to study God’s Word. If the structure isn’t serving you, you may consider finding a way to slow it down or modify it.
Even if you just read the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs, it is better than only occasionally reading the Bible, or not reading the Bible at all.
The One Year Bible can be an effective way to build a Bible reading habit. You can start by setting a goal to read the passages for one month. What a foundation for beginning or strengthening a Bible reading routine!
