Prayer for the New Month of February

Dear Father,

Thank You for the gift of a new month! We are blessed to feel a fresh start with each day, week, month and year that You have given to us.

We pray that You will be glorified in our lives as we live out Your plans for us in this month. May we always look to You and seek Your will! May we recognize the February blessings You give us this month.

Help us to serve You well, and be a blessing to others this month.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayers for February: 5 Themes to Pray

Prayers for February (2) hello february letter tiles and pink flowers

When we only pray for the issues and problems on our minds, we might neglect to pray for important aspects of our Christian life.

These 5 prayer themes for the month can be helpful in praying for areas that might not immediately come to your mind, but are key areas of our Christian walk.

Unity Among Believers

If you’ve been a Christian for any amount of time, you have probably experienced the blessing of feeling connected and encouraged to another believer. The common ground of naming Jesus as your Savior can overcome many differences!

Yet the inverse can be true as well. As Christians, we do not want to compromise the Word of God, and we shouldn’t! Yet some Chrisitans are willing to wholly reject other Christians inside and outside their church who do not have identical doctrine to them.

We don’t have to agree on everything to have unity in our Heavenly Father, or to show the love of Christ to other Christians. Consider these Scriptures as you pray through these prayer points.

Prayer Points for Unity Among Believers

Pray for the blessing of unity among believers. “See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!” Psalm 133:1

Ask God to grow you in your faith and be unified in it. “Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error.” Ephesians 4:13-14

Pray for unity in church life. “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.” Acts 2:42

Prayers for February (8) acts 2 42

Ask God to bring you in unity with other Christians. “Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Corinthians 1:10

Pray for love for one another. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

Prayer for Unity Among Believers

Dear God,

We thank You for the encouragement and support that can come from other believers in our lives and in our church family.

We pray that You would help us to love one another and be unified in You! May we not focus on minor differences, but come together in our love for our Lord Jesus Christ!

May we be a blessing to You and to each other,

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thanksgiving for Friendship

Prayers for February (3) february written on a piece of paper pinned to a corkboard

What a blessing a good Christian friend is! A close friend who encourages you in your faith can help you grow in the Lord.

We are not always in a season where we have the friends we want or need. The Lord can use those seasons to draw You closer to Him. Realizing that Jesus is our Savior and friend is a great comfort in any stage of life.

(If you’d like to read more about forming friendships and finding community, I found Kristen Strong’s Back Roads to Belonging helpful.)

Spend time in thanksgiving for the friendship of Jesus, and of others who support you as You walk with Jesus.

Prayer Points of Thanksgiving for Friendship

Thank Jesus for being your friend. “You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.” John 15:14

Be thankful to God for the friends you find in Christ. “I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts.” Psalm 119:63

Thank Jesus for friends who are supportive through life’s troubles. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Prayers for February (9) galatians 6 2

Give thanks for loving friends. “A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 17:17

Be thankful for forgiving friends, and pray against gossip. “He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends.” Proverbs 17:9

Give thanks for honest friends. “The wounds of a friend are faithful, although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.” Proverbs 27:6

Prayer of Thanksgiving for Friendship

Almighty God,

Thank Youfor the friends You have given to me over the years, some for a short time, and others as long-term friends.

I thank You for how You used them in my life to encourage me, and how I have been able to encourage them as well.

I pray that I would be a good friend to each of them, and that we would honor You in our friendships!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Healing and Comfort for the Sick

Prayers for February (4) partial view of a February calendar page

We want healing and comfort for the sick, whether you are coping with your own illness, or watching a loved one go through a health struggle.

We know that the Lord can heal us! He does not always do so, especially by our own timetable. He sometimes gives us miracles, but other times we find the victory in Him just in getting through the health crisis.

We should ask for healing and comfort for the sick, and accept what the Lord answers according to His will. He will provide what we need to fulfill His plan for our lives.

Prayer Points for Healing and Comfort for the Sick

Pray for the Lord’s deliverance. “Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.” Psalm 91:14-15

Ask for God’s healing through prayer and anointing. “Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” James 5:14-15

Pray that Jesus will heal you. “But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them of God’s Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing.” Luke 9:11

Prayers for February (10) luke 9 11

Trust the Lord to heal your heart. “He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

Ask God for an eternal perspective. “For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will change the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.” Philippians 3:20-21

Prayer for Healing and Comfort for the Sick

O Lord,

Thank You that we can come to You with all of our needs. We have this great need for healing, and we lay this burden down at Your feet.

We submit our request to You, and trust You to answer it according to Your will. We ask for comfort and peace through this difficult trial.

May we walk closely with You as we face this challenge. Thank You for how You are going to answer this prayer!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Wisdom in Decision-Making

Prayers for February (5) February letter tiles

While some people are more naturally decisive, even the most decisive people can struggle to make certain decisions.

No matter what decision we have to make, we should seek God’s wisdom as we contemplate what we should do.

The Bible talks a lot about God’s wisdom, God’s truth, and God’s will in living our lives. Pray through these Scriptures as you seek wisdom in decision-making.

Prayer Points for Wisdom in Decision-Making

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into truth. “However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.” John 16:13

Pray for God to teach you. “Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation, I wait for you all day long.” Psalm 25:5

Ask God for wisdom. “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

Prayers for February (11) james 1 5

Thank God for the wisdom found in Jesus. “Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30

Pray for God’s counsel in your life. “You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.” Psalm 73:24

Prayer for Wisdom in Decision-Making

O God,

We often rely on our own wisdom as we go about life. We want to ask You to help us to change that, and to seek Your wisdom as we make decisions.

Please bless us with Your wisdom, Lord! May our decisions and their results glorify You. May we make decisions that honor You.

We love You, dear Father!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Compassion for Those in Need

Prayers for February (6) february printer blocks

The Lord highly values compassion in the lives of His followers.

The fact that He shows great compassion to us, sinners who deserve no mercy, and offers us salvation – this shows how important compassion is to God.

We are all in need, often in different ways. Pray for God to give you a heart of compassion, especially to those who God might be using you to fill their needs.

Prayer Points for Compassion for Those in Need

Pray to minister to others in need. “Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27

Ask Jesus to help you see others with His compassion. “Jesus came out, saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34

Pray for a compassionate heart. “Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance.” Colossians 3:12

Prayers for February (12) colossians 3 12

Ask God to help you show compassion wisely to others. “But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?” 1 John 3:17

Pray that God would show you how to help others how you would want to be helped. “As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.” Luke 6:31

Prayer for Compassion for Those in Need

Dear Lord,

Sometimes we struggle to show compassion to those we know are in need. Help us to have a compassionate heart like yours.

Give us wisdom in our acts of compassion, that we would be discerning as we help others. Bring us together with the right people and organizations that can help us be effective in our help.

Thank You for Your compassion on us, and for never giving up on us. We pray that we would have that same kind of love and compassion for others.

In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
