When you see your husband going through hard times, your heart goes out to him. You would change the circumstances if you could, but that isn’t possible for us most of the time.
Thankfully, it isn’t out of reach for the Lord! I can be in prayer for my husband in difficult times, and you can, too.
These are sample prayers that can help inspire your own prayers, praying in your own words. Or you can pray through them word-for-word, as long as you sincerely pray them from your heart.

How do I pray for my husband in difficult times?
It’s so hard to see your husband suffering. You love him, and want the best for him. Together, you’re a team, but your other team member is hurting. What can you do to help?
Prayer is a powerful way to support your husband in difficult times. But reciting these prayers isn’t a magical solution to making your husband’s problems go away.
Beware of any posts or videos that make promises like this. Our purpose in praying isn’t to “get stuff,” but to lift up our praises and concerns to the Lord, and trust that He will answer them according to His will.
If your husband is a Christian, it would probably be encouraging to let him know you are in daily prayer for him. Don’t use it to criticize, pointing out a weakness or a regret in his life. But rather, use it to show support and love for him.
If your husband doesn’t believe in Jesus yet, and is antagonistic about your faith, you may choose to keep your prayers private. The Lord knows you are praying, and that is enough.
If you have a Christian friend you can trust, she can pray together with you through this difficult time. Make sure that you agree to keep what you pray about between you and her (unless it puts someone in danger.)
Prayer for my husband in difficult times
Pray for your husband with faith! James 5:16b tells us that “The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.” These prayers are here to inspire your prayers when your husband is encountering trials and challenges that threaten to overwhelm. Prayer is the best way to bring your concerns and worries to the Lord.
Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Prayer for my husband’s strength
When life’s burdens weigh on my husband, I ask for strength in my prayer for my husband in difficult times. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Be praying for your husband’s strength during these difficult times, that he will turn to the Lord for the strength to get through life’s challenges.
Dear Lord,
I thank You for my husband, and I am worried about him. Right now, my husband is facing difficult situations. I pray that my husband will turn to you for his strength. I pray that he would know that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
He may not feel strong enough or equipped for what is facing him. I pray that You would help him see that he only needs your strength, and does not need to rely on his own.
Please help him to feel strong in You today, Lord!

Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Prayer for my husband who is grieving
If my husband has suffered a loss, I ask for comfort for him in my prayer for my husband in difficult times. Grief hits all of us at one point, especially when someone close to us has died. But we can also be grieving when we lose an important relationship or have to say goodbye to a cherished phase in our life.
Psalm 147:3 tells us, “He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.” The Lord can bring healing to the broken heart. Pray for your husband to be comforted in his grief.
Dear God,
It hurts so much to see my husband grieving this loss. It has broken his heart. My heart is broken over how much this hurts him.
I thank You, Lord, that You love us so much, and You care about our broken hearts. Please heal my husband’s broken heart, and bind up his wounds (Psalm 147:3). Give him the hope that he needs to start healing from this loss.
Please show him that You are always with him by the power of the Holy Spirit, and that he does not need to feel alone in his grief. Bring the right people alongside him to help him in his grief. Show me where I can be supportive of him.

Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Prayer for my husband who needs healing
If my husband is sick, I pray for healing in my prayer for my husband in difficult times. Our bodies here on earth will only last for our lifetime, however long or short that will be. While we are here, we hope for them to be able to serve us, and not cause us pain. That’s not always the case.
When your husband is faced with a diagnosis or illness, lift up your husband’s health to the Lord! The Lord performed miracles in the Bible and still gives us miracles today. Sometimes He uses traditional medicine, but other times, the healing can only be straight from the Lord.
Psalm 91:14-15 says, ““Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.”
Pray for God’s deliverance from this difficult trial, and for strength during this challenging time. Pray that God’s plan would be fulfilled even through this overwhelming struggle.
Dear Lord,
I come to You, Heavenly Father, for You are our mighty and powerful God. You can do anything, according to Your will and Your plan for our lives.
I lift up my husband to You, and ask You to deliver Him from this illness and into good health. May my husband call on You, and see an answer to his prayer (from Psalm 91:14-15). I pray that he will put his hope in You and Your healing.
Whether You choose to heal through conventional medicine, alternative medicine, or other means, we pray that we would give You the glory for however You choose to see us through this. Please strengthen both of us today.

Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Prayer for my husband’s success
When your husband is struggling at work, the stress and burdens can spill over into the rest of your husband’s life. Praying for him to succeed at what he does is a great way to pray for your husband.
Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men.” Pray for your husband’s work, that your husband will be working for the glory of the Lord.
Pray that his hard work will bring him success. Pray that job difficulties would be smoothed over, and that he would be blessed with good things at work.
Dear Lord God,
I thank You for how You have provided for us over the years, my husband’s job being one of those ways. I am thankful for the skills he has, his hard work, and his desire to provide for our family.
When work is difficult for him, whether it is physical limitations, extra stress, or unrealistic expectations, I pray that You would give him wisdom as to what You would have him do. May he work heartily for You, to bring You glory (Colossians 3:23).
I ask You to give him favor with his bosses, coworkers, and other people he interacts with at work. Help him to be kind to others. Please bless the work of his hands, and help him to be a blessing to others.

Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Prayer for my husband’s protection
When I am concerned for my husband’s safety, I ask God to protect him in my prayer for my husband in difficult times. Husbands want to protect their families from harm, and that is a noble and Biblical desire. Yet we only want them to take calculated risks that they have discerned are necessary.
Psalm 61:4 tells us, “I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings.” Even the strongest and bravest person needs to take refuge in the Lord. Pray that your husband will seek God’s protection and wisdom in dangerous situations.
Dear Father,
I thank You for my husband, and his desire is to protect our family. I am grateful that he looks out for us.
I pray that You would help him to take shelter in your wings (Psalm 61:4), that he would be safe as he has done what You have called him to do. Help him not to take any unnecessary risks. Give him wisdom and discernment. Show him the right decisions to make in these situations.
I pray that You would thwart anyone who would want to bring harm to him.

Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Prayer for my husband’s faith
Everyone has their own faith journey. Some accept Jesus into their heart as children; others wait until later in life to decide if they will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ideally, if you were a Christian when you married, you would choose to marry another believer. But if you are a Christian already married to someone who doesn’t know God yet, use this opportunity to be a blessing to your husband, an example of Christ living in you.
If your husband does know the Lord already, he may experience times of struggle and doubt in his spiritual growth, like we all do at times. We can always be praying for our husbands to draw closer to Christ and be strengthened in their faith.
We also can pray that they would know God’s love fully and would share that Good News with others. Pray that your husband’s mind would believe and dwell on truth from the Bible, and not deceptive lies.
Colossians 2:6 says, “As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him.” Let’s pray that our husbands will be walking with Christ every day!
O Gracious God,
I want more than anything else, to have my husband walk closely with You everyday. I want him to have the joy and peace of growing in his personal relationship with You.
I pray that my husband’s heart today will be to follow You. Help him where he might be having struggles with his faith. Show him others who might help him in his faith.
Draw him close to You today! Please encourage him to follow You today.

Prayer for my husband in difficult times: Bible Verses to pray for my husband

We often get sidetracked in prayer by our wish lists for our lives and other people. When we pray according to God’s Word, we are more likely to pray in line with God’s will.
