These happy new month prayers, as well as the prayer prompts, can help you bring in the brand new month with new hope in God’s goodness.

The prayer themes for the new month cover church ministry, the Bible, compassion, forgiveness, and caregivers. May you have a fantastic month as you pray weekly through these themes.
Guidance for the Church’s Ministry
The church is called the body of Christ. If we love Christ, we should not reject the body of Christ. We need to be praying for the church.
Some people have been hurt at church in the past. It may come from godly people who are misguided. It might come from sinful people who took advantage of a situation. Or it might come from taking offense at being corrected for your own sinful situation.
God sees your pain, and can heal you from it. Don’t give up on church because people let you down. We will always be let down by people at some point, but you can always trust God.
We should be praying for godly leaders, faithful church members, and ministry that reflects God’s priorities.
Use these prayer points to pray for guidance for the church’s ministry.
Prayer Points for Guidance for the Church’s Ministry
Pray that many people will be faithful in prayer for the church. “The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.” James 5:16b
Ask God for His strength for the church and its leaders. “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint.” 2 Corinthians 4:1
Pray to follow the Apostle Paul’s example of ministry. “Preaching God’s Kingdom, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.” Acts 28:31
Ask God to equip you and the church for ministry. “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
Pray for God’s priorities in your church’s ministry. “Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27
Prayer for Guidance for Church Ministry
Dear Lord,
We love Your church! We know that people in it aren’t perfect, but neither are we. We thank You for bringing us together in worship and fellowship with each other.
We pray for people who have stayed away from church because of bad experiences. Bring healing into their hearts, and other Christians into their lives that show Your love to them.
Please strengthen the leaders of our church and help them as they make decisions that affect the future of the church.
Help us to be faithful in serving in the ministries of the church.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Thankfulness for God’s Word
God’s Word is such a precious gift! People spend their whole lives studying the Bible and even then, find new things from which they can learn and grow.
We can rejoice that God gave us His Word. Use these prayer points to be thankful for the Bible.
Prayer Points for Thankfulness for God’s Word
Thank God that His Word is everlasting. “The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8
Be thankful for the guidance in God’s Word. “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
Thank God for His authorship of the Bible. “Every Scripture is God-breathed.” 2 Timothy 3:16a
Rejoice that the Bible is more than a book. “For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Be thankful for how God equips us through His Word. “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17
Give thanks for the Word of God, and let God’s Word change your life. “For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13
Pray that you will handle the Word of God accurately. “Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
Prayer for Thankfulness for God’s Word
Dear Lord,
We thank You for Your Word! The Bible is so precious to us, and we are grateful for this amazing gift to us.
We pray that You would help us to grow in our love for Your Word, and that we would be faithful in studying it and letting Your Word change our lives.
May we be faithful in sharing Your Word with others.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Compassion for the Vulnerable
Sometimes we are so overwhelmed with the problems we face for the day, that we put blinders on to other people’s struggles and pain.
And even when we do look at other people’s challenges, we can get overwhelmed with the problems that don’t have easy solutions. It’s tempting to look away when you don’t feel like you have anything to offer.
But when we look at the compassion that the Lord showed to us, when we were as “sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36), we should try to reflect that same compassion to others.
We can also see Jesus’ example of compassionate action in Luke 7:13-15, when He saw the grieving mother and brought her son back to life.
“And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.”
Jesus knew what God had equipped Him to do, and took compassionate action. What has God equipped you to do?
Look at the Scriptures in these prayer points, and let God lead you where He wants you to serve.
Prayer Points for Compassion for the Vulnerable
Pray for a heart of compassion. “Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance.” Colossians 3:12
Ask God to open your heart to helping the vulnerable. “Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.” Psalm 82:3
Pray for protection of the vulnerable, especially young people. “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.” Matthew 18:6
Ask for God’s heart for those who need help. “A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.” Psalm 68:5
Pray that God would help you show kindness and patience to others. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
Prayer for Compassion for the Vulnerable
Dear Lord,
Thank You for seeing us with compassion. We could not stand if it were not for Your daily mercies in our lives.
We pray that You would give us a heart to help others who need our help, especially the vulnerable. Help us to be discerning, compassionate, and faithful to this work.
Show us organizations we can partner with to work effectively in this ministry. Bring us together to serve the vulnerable.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Giving and Accepting Forgiveness
Does the word “forgiveness” make you squirm?
Maybe you find it difficult to accept God’s forgiveness, or maybe you struggle to forgive others.
The Lord can work in your heart to forgive others. When you love others through Jesus’ strength and not your own, He can help you forgive and put down your bitterness.
Start preparing your heart to accept and give forgiveness by praying through these Scriptures about forgiveness.
Prayer Points for Giving and Accepting Forgiveness
Pray for those who feel like they can never be forgiven. “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12
Ask God to heal your broken heart in preparation for forgiveness. “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.” Psalm 34:18 WEBBE
Pray to not hold grudges that can make the situation worse. “[Love] takes no account of evil.” 1 Corinthians 13:5c
Ask God for freedom from unforgiveness and bitterness. “The Lord GOD’s Spirit is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted , to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound.” Isaiah 61:1 WEBBE
Ask God to help you forgive by His power. “But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves. We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-9
Prayer for Giving and Accepting Forgiveness
Father,
We are so thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins. We pray that we will seek You for forgiveness and that we will show forgiveness to others.
Set us free from bitterness and grudges that hold us back. May we experience true peace in You and Your forgiveness.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

You may also find these Scriptures are helpful in encouraging caregivers or other people who need strength for today. Pray over what verses you can share to encourage someone today.
Prayer Points for Strength for Caregivers
Pray to abide in Christ. “I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
Thank God that He has all the strength we will need. “‘Lord GOD, you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or in earth that can do works like yours, and mighty acts like yours?” Deuteronomy 3:24 WEBBE
Ask God to help you be strong. “Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them, for the LORD your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 WEBBE
Pray for hope and strength during this difficult time. “Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the LORD.” Psalm 31:24 WEBBE
Thank God for His faithfulness and protection. “But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Pray to find your strength in Christ. “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Pray to draw strength from God’s blessing. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7
A Prayer for Strength for Caregivers

We know that if You want us to accomplish something, You will give us the strength to do it.
Help us to be strong when we need to be, and not worry about being strong all the time.
Let us honor You with the very strength You have given us.
