Today, if your goal is to “be a Christian writer,” you will likely want to start a blog or website to share your faith, inspiration, and knowledge to encourage other Christians.
Christian blogging is a great opportunity to reach not only the people you know in person, but also people you will never meet on this side of heaven! But it can be hard to know where to get started.
There are so many blogging tools available, even some built specifically for Christians. It can be overwhelming to choose the right ones. In this article, we’ll explore some of the best blogging tools for Christian bloggers.
Essential Christian Blogging Tools
I currently own two websites and manage two more. Over the years, through research and taking courses, I’ve figured out what works for me as a Christian blogger.
It’s not the one right way to blog, but it’s allowed me to have reach beyond the people I know in person. They are essential for me, but you may find that other tools serve you better.

- WordPress: WordPress is a popular blogger platform that powers millions of websites, including many Christian blogs. It’s user-friendly, customizable, and offers a wide range of plugins and themes to enhance your blog’s functionality and design. This article about WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org does a good job of explaining the difference between a blog hosted on WordPress.com and a WordPress blog host on a web host you pay for, like BigScoots.
- Canva: Canva is a graphic design platform that allows you to create stunning visuals for your blog posts. You can use Canva to design featured images, social media graphics, and infographics. Some of them seem tailored to go on a Christian blog, while other designs need to be adapted. There is a free tier and a paid tier.
- Pinterest: Pinterest is a great source of traffic for Christian blogging if you focus on being helpful to Pinterest users, offering encouragement and resources that they would find interesting or useful.
However, the best advice I got as I started taking my Christian blogging seriously came from the Christian Bloggers’ Boot Camp, run by LeeAnn over at Kingdom Bloggers. I had taken some of her other classes, like SEO Fundamentals for Christian Bloggers (which has been recently redesigned) and Printables for Christian Bloggers.
I had taken a couple of other classes before from other writers and bloggers, but this one seemed the most interested in helping me succeed in my goals.
The combination of lessons to complete during the week with the weekly Zoom meetings during the class term were key to helping me understand how to serve my reader with solid Christian content they were looking for.
Because past students can attend future boot camps for free, I attended it again recently, when LeeAnn added new information given all the changes in the Google search algorithm. It was so helpful to learn new strategies and be able to ask questions about my websites.
If Christian blogging is something that you are committed to, and you have the money available, I found the Christian Blogger’s Boot Camp to be worth the investment.
Additional Tools for Christian Writers
- Social Media Management Tools: Tools like SocialChamp or Postplanner can help you schedule and manage your social media posts, making it easier to promote your blog and engage with your audience.
- Journey by Mediavine. Once you have enough traffic coming to your website, you may be looking for an ad management solution. Journey is definitely worth considering. I like that their Grow plugin can help you build an auto-mailer mailing list, which is a weekly newsletter that they send out to people who choose to subscribe through the plugin’s form on your website.
- Email Marketing Platforms: Platforms like Mailchimp and ConvertKit can help you build an email list and send newsletters to your subscribers, keeping them updated on your latest blog posts.
Choosing the Right Tools
The best Christian blogging tools for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. Consider your budget, technical skills, and the specific features you’re looking for. Experiment with different tools to find the ones that work best for you and help you achieve your Christian blogging goals.
Blogging can be a powerful way for Christian writers to share their faith and inspire others. By using the right tools, you can create a successful and impactful blog that reaches a wide audience. Remember to pray for guidance as you choose your blogging tools and use them to glorify God.
